This a nicely paced book that keeps you wondering what the main characters will do next. To me, the storyline reminded me of that movie with Glenn Close "Fatal Attraction" and I was so afraid that the main character was going to be dragged down the same road. I won't give any of it away, but I found this book one that I wanted to keep reading. I look forward to the next book.Product details

This gripping thriller has it all--action, suspense and an excellent twist. Lane is a wonderful hero with that desire to do the right thing and tenacity to accomplish his goals. He's not perfect though, and that's what makes him so likable.
The plot is interesting and has enough twists and turns to keep the reader guessing. While I love the thriller aspects, I have to say that my favorite parts of the book were actually the interplay between Lane and his wife. It's not romance, but more like their relationship feels incredibly real and that drives the emotion of the book. If Lane can't find the killer, not only will it destroy his career, but it could destroy his marriage, so the stakes are high.
Full disclosure, I had the privilege of reading this book as it was being written by J.R. Tate.
Just when you have a character figured out, they show another side of themselves. Full of twists and turns, with a surprise ending.
Another great novel by J.R. Tate! This was nail-biting, heart-stopping until the end. You know a book is well-written when one of the characters is so well developed that you actually hate them, but yet you can't stop reading because you need to now what happens next. This thriller kept me on the edge of my seat from the first chapter. I highly recommend this novel to anyone who enjoys a good thriller.
Loved this book almost from the beginning, wasn't hard to get into like some, read it in a day, could not not finish it, had to see where it went. Thank you for a good read.
J. R. Tate's, "Dance with the Devil" provides an exhilarating read that keeps you turning page after page as you wait for the next twist and turn of the plot. The author captures the essence of heinous crime as young women are being found murdered and dumped in Baltimore's back alleys, abandoned like so much trash. Lead detective Lane O'Reily and his partner, Phillip Pierce, work hand in hand with the ME desperately trying to find not only the common thread that weaves through the murders but some minute oversight on the part of the perpetrator that will give them a jump on the killer who is meticulous in leaving few clues behind. This "red ball" case has many twisted circumstances and a devious murderer who has detectives scratching for anything that might prevent another killing. O'Reily and his partner scramble for leads as a witness plays mind games with them and the sanctity of one detective's marriage is threatened. The Lieutenant promises O'Reily a black mark on a heretofore spotless service record if the case isn't quickly dispatched. "Dance with the Devil" is a whirl-wind ride through the city of Baltimore. You won't be disappointed in this offering from the author's Troubled Heroes Series. You will find it hard to put down. A good read for a cold, blustery day or a long flight to a warmer climate. You will be hooked from the very first page.
Dangerous Betrayal is an exciting read! In a time where Police Officers are criticized, it is a refreshing change reading a thriller in which the Police are not the villain! Although I deduced the actual criminal early, it did not spoil the ending. If you are a fan of mysteries or thrillers, Dangerous Betrayal is a must read!
Good story. It was full of suspense. The only problem I had was the main character, Lane. He was the lead detective on a multiple murder case. He seemed a little too hot headed to still be working. More than once he spouts off to his supervisors. Most people would have been fired or at least demoted. It made him a little unlikable. I will be reading more of Ms. Tate's books.
